Abraham (Avi) Borenstein, Esq., Managing Partner

Abraham (Avi) Borenstein is the Managing Partner and principal of the firm. He enjoys over 30 years experience handling complex transactional and litigation matters in New York, New Jersey and across the United States. His practice is wide ranging and diversified and that vast experience aids him in the handling of matters of all types. His experience includes providing expert witness testimony in several diverse real estate matters; serving as “judge” in the Benjamin Cardozo Law School Entertainment Law Moot Court program; teaching continuing legal education in New Jersey and New York; and many other educational endeavors. Avi is a court appointed Arbitrator in the United States District Court, District of New Jersey, as well as a court appointed commissioner of condemnation matters in the Superior Court of New Jersey. Avi is widely consulted by other lawyers regarding various legal and practical issues. Avi is a noted speaker and teacher and has spoken to audiences in the thousands about the Holocaust. Avi has served as counsel to numerous charitable institutions of various types, both secular and religious based, in many communities. In his rare free time, Avi enjoys both producing plays for the New York Broadway theater and serving as Head Coach of the basketball program at The Frisch School in Paramus, New Jersey, where most recently he won a MJDSBL JV championship in 2010 and has compiled an 84% winning percentage.


Sharon R. Borenstein, Esq., Partner

Sharon Borenstein practices law in both the Lebanon and Springfield Offices, with an emphasis on trusts and estates, real estate law and contracts. Sharon has been admitted to the New Jersey bar for the past fourteen years. In 2005, Sharon formed and served as the managing partner of McConnell & Borenstein, P.C. in Oldwick, New Jersey. Sharon received her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and she earned an M.P.A. in Labor Relations from New York University Graduate School of Public Administration. Sharon held an associate position at Budd Larner, in Short Hills, New Jersey. Subsequently, as the Director of Overseas Endowments at the United Jewish Communities in New York City, Sharon honed her legal skills and experience in all aspects of endowment development and charitable giving. Sharon is presently a managing partner of Borenstein McConnell & Calpin, P.C.


Erin M. Calpin, Esq., Partner

Ms. Calpin focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning, elder law, and trust and estate administration. She has extensive experience assisting executors through the legal complexities of an estate administration, and specializes in estate planning techniques to preserve wealth and minimize estate taxes. She has been a certified guardian under the National Guardianship Association, and she has acted as court appointed guardian in Hunterdon and Warren Counties. Ms. Calpin is a member of the New Jersey Bar. She received her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law, Newark. She is also a graduate of the National Graduate Trust School.


Alec R. Borenstein, Esq., Partner

Alec Borenstein is a Senior Associate for the firm.  Alec went to Loyola Law School in Los Angeles where he graduated cum laude and in the top 10% of his class.  Alec is also a Member of the Order of the Coif.  In 2006-2007 Alec served as the Chief Articles Editor for Volume 40 of the Loyola Law Review.  Alec is admitted in New York and New Jersey and practices in both states and in the Federal Courts.  Alec is also an award winning speaker and business development consultant for The Rainmaker Institute.


Nicole Falcey, Esq., Associate

Nicole Falcey is an associate for the firm. Nicole graduated from University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2011 where from 2009-2011, she competed on the nationally ranked Trial Team.   In 2010, Nicole interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Salt Lake City, where she worked with the violent crimes division.  In 2011, Nicole interned with the Adams County District Attorney’s Office prosecuting and trying misdemeanor cases. Nicole is admitted in both New York and New Jersey and has been practicing law since 2011. Nicole’s main practice is in labor and employment law, family law, landlord/tenant law, commercial litigation, and criminal law.


Avi Guttman, Esq., Associate

Avi Guttman is an associate for the firm. Avi graduated Cum Laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2014, where he also served as Articles Editor for the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution. In 2013 Avi was selected for the Alexander Fellows Program, where he served as a full time judicial intern to the honorable Susan D. Wigenton of the United States District Court in Newark, NJ. Avi is admitted in both New York and New Jersey and practices in both the State and Federal Courts. Avi enjoys being an estate planning attorney as it allows him to help his clients plan for the well-being of their loved ones and to prepare for any contingency. When not practicing law, Avi enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his wife and daughter.


Our attorneys will travel to meet with clients at the office location most convenient to the client, or we will meet at a client’s home when traveling for the client is impractical or impossible. We look forward to serving your needs.

Diane Reyes, Office Manager/Paralegal

Diane Reyes has over 32 years of experience in the legal and professional world.  Diane focuses on all areas of office administration as well as legal assistance.  Diane is particularly skilled at business administration, MOUS, and Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CMECF).  Diane hails from Brooklyn, New York, but she has called New Jersey home since 1972.  Diane takes pleasure in acquiring knowledge in the art of international cuisine, and she is fascinated with Ballroom Dancing.


Patrice Llemos, Receptionist & Administrative Assistant

Patrice Llemos is a new member of the BMC team. As the Office Receptionist and Administrative Assistant, Patrice provides support for calls and messages, calendar and appointment management, general correspondence, and client information organization. She also assists in maintaining the BMC marketing and social media platforms. In addition to her work at the Firm, Patrice is an accomplished classical soprano. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Voice Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, and specializes in opera and concert performances throughout New York, New Jersey and Maryland.


Courtney Reed, Associate

Courtney Reed is an Associate for the Firm.  She graduated magna cum laude with a Criminal Justice B.S. from Bay Path University in Longmeadow, Massachusetts in 2013.  Courtney graduated from New York Law School (NYLS) in Manhattan in 2016.  Prior to law school, Courtney worked as a job coach for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  In her spare time, Courtney enjoys cake decorating, playing flute, practicing yoga, and spending time with her fiancée and dog.
